Cathay Pacific has confirmed they are investigating an employee who was filmed launching suitcases down a set of stairs in an unprofessional manner.
Information is limited surrounding this incident, but below is what we know on this so far.

Suitcases Down The Stairs?: Cathay Pacific Opens Investigation into Employee…
Data indicates that this incident may have happened on July 15, based on the aircraft the Cathay Pacific employee was removing bags from.
This was B-KQY.
As per Planespotters.net, B-KQY is a 9.2 year old Boeing 777-300ER that was delivered to the airline in May 2015.
Moreover, of the 777-300ER variant, Cathay Pacific has 37 of them in their fleet.
Within that 37, all but three are in active service, with an average fleet age of 11.8 years.
Furthermore, the airline also has the following aircraft in their fleet as well as that variant:
- 12 Airbus A321 Family aircraft.
- 43 Airbus A330 Family aircraft.
- 48 Airbus A350 Family aircraft.
- 17 Boeing 777-300 (Non Extended Range).
B-KQY’s last flight where this could have happened would have been after Cathay Pacific flight CX819 landed into Hong Kong from Vancouver.
In the video, you can see that the employee was filmed throwing passengers’ suitcases down a set of stairs in an unprofessional manner.
This is as opposed to carrying them downstairs and to the nearest luggage vehicle.
Such a video has gone viral all over social media, and has prompted a response from the airline.
Staff Member Removed From Current Position…
Cathay Pacific has confirmed an investigation has been launched into the employee who was throwing the suitcases down the stairs.
Furthermore, the airline apologised on July 16 to the affected passengers for the inconvenience caused.
The employee has also been removed from her current position pending the outcome of the investigation.
It will be interesting to see what the outcome of this investigation will result in.
Overall…
In conclusion, this is not a good look for Cathay Pacific, especially with a video being released of the employee throwing suitcases down the stairs.
All eyes will turn to the outcome of the investigation to see if she gets dismissed from her post officially.
